Disintegration.
"...When our eyes met, I felt that I was growing pale."
Harnessing Shadows
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. -H.P. Lovecraft
Darkness
She was blind.
She awoke sputtering and choking, clawing at her throat. The blackness was suffocating, drowning her as she shuddered awake. She gasped for air but there was none to be had. For a few terrifying seconds, she was sure she was dying.
She blinked tear-dampened eyes against the darkness, trying to make sense of the feeling. Silence. Desolation. Nothing.
Exhaustion
Setting her pen across her notebook, Tanwen pressed the heels of her hands against her weary eyes. She listened to the bubbling mixtures that surrounded her as she perched on a stool at Nallaen's bar. She inhaled deeply, filling her nose with the familiar scents of the Nightmare Vine and Dreaming Glory scattered across the counter.
Parting Gifts
Her fingers were weightless. Every muscle relaxed, every joint giving in to even the most gentle pressure. She ran her hand over the hood of the cloak spread across her lap. Deep black velvet caressed her trailing fingers, springing back into shape in their wake. She followed the contour of the hood's perfect seam, passing her fingertips over the muted gold and burgundy trim. Her hands blindly explored the delicate metal clasp, tracing the outline of the raven, of the arcane sigils around the edges. The cloak was solid, it was real, it was right there lai
Return To Lhara
Saar's fur stood on end. Tanwen gently stroked his neck, whispering soothing words of comfort.
The gnome arched an eyebrow.
Nightmares In Unison
She was positioned in the small stand of trees just before the weathered graveyard.
Curses, Afflictions, and the Instabilities Therein
Tanwen carefully set her notebooks down beside her and settled into the warm sand. Yanking off her heavy work boots, she dipped her toes into the cool water lapping at the shore with a sigh of near ecstasy. Having been up since dawn working in the lab, she felt she deserved a few minutes to sit and just be. And with the sun beginning the slow descent into the sea, now was the perfect time.
Tanwen's Diary: Recap Show pt II
Tanwen picked up her pen. “Okay, where did I leave off?” she murmured, flipping to the first blank page.
Tanwen's Diary: Recap Show pt I
OOC Note Funtimes: This is very long and the next one will be very long; it's a sort of recap while Tanwen has time away from the city to reflect on who she was, who she is, and who she is becoming.
The Tanwen Playlist
Nallaen and I exchanged playlists a few weeks ago and I think after seeing the KtK playlist, we had to post ours. I did some heavy editing to mine to shorten it up a bit but definitely got the most important tracks on there. Anything without lyrical examples is either strictly instrumental or just sort of theme-y music.
Dawn Over The Cathedral
It was very late.
Or rather, very early. Tanwen knew she had been sitting on the bench for some time, completely engrossed in her notebook, but she didn’t realize just how long she had been there until Orphan Matron Nightingale wandered out of the orphanage in the barely breaking dawn, a gaggle of little ones in tow.
"... and ashes just fall to the ground ..."
Tanwen awoke screaming.
The flames still bathed her subconscious, a wall of fire dancing behind her eyes as she struggled to pull herself fully awake.
Avoiding the Plague 101: Don't Eat Dessert
Tanwen drummed her fingers on the counter, the herbs she was absently sorting all but forgotten.
“That fucking succubus!” she growled under her breath.
Imaginary Letter I
Dearest Nallaen,
I am writing this obviously fully aware that you can see every word as I do. Sometimes I guess it’s just easier to write things down, I don’t know. So I apologize in advance if this doesn’t make any sense.
'The Big Reveal'
Nallaen followed Tanwen out of the clinic. At the bottom of the ramp, he paused and lit a cigarette. “So… new job hmm?”
Tanwen smiled and blushed. “Something to keep me busy I suppose. And I have to admit, the ‘Dr. Brightamber’ bit makes me laugh.”
Increasingly Familiar (semi NSFW?)
Tanwen stood in the middle of his bedroom.
She knew this room well. So many nights she had studied every seam in the ceiling, every shadowy corner, every knotted plank of the walls… absorbed every detail as she lay awake listening to the fitful sleep beside her. Safety. Comfort. She was overcome with a warmth, immediately putting her at ease. She smiled to herself, glancing around the room. Such simple elegance. Such security.
The Bakery
Tanwen blinked. She was in the doorway of… a bakery?
She blinked again. Definitely a bakery.
“C’mon in, sugar!” called a vaguely familiar voice from deeper within the store. Tanwen was confused but proceeded inside.
A Turning Point
Tanwen sat on the edge of the bed, lacing her boots. She sat up and ran her hand lightly along Nallaen’s bare arm, watching the gooseflesh prickle up in the wake of her fingers. Smiling to herself and content that he was still asleep, she grabbed her satchel and slipped silently from the house, greeting the barely broken day.
A first time for everything!
I have been trying on and off for the past almost TWO YEARS to level a draenei priest to play with real-life friends. As many of you know, I raid as a blood elf priestess on a PvE server (read: NOT an RP server). I have never been able to get an Alliance character past level 50 (not including death knights, obviously). So my draenei priest sits, unloved and unused.
Then I came to Wyrmrest Accord.
A little history...
