[Open] Down by the Pier
The day was no different from any other in Booty Bay except for one thing, today a troll had perched himself at the end of the pier. He sat casually and at ease with a leg bent under his body and as the other hanged down and moved lazily back and forth in the water. He appeared to be not much different from his kin aside from the most obvious of differences: he was considerably more bulky and sported a rather unique coloring. His skin, much like the Darkspears, was a shade of blue though it appeared to be more like the blue of midnight. If the darkened skin didn't cause him to stand out enough as it were, the shock of long red dreadlocks gathered back into a ponytail that made him more than a little obvious in a crowd. A band of war paint passed over his eyes and disappeared into his hairline and proud but weathered tusks jutted proudly from the corners of his mouth. He sported the body of a warrior. The troll's body was corded and ripped with toned and heavily defined muscles from years of training and swinging various weapons he found at his disposal. The faint scars of battle that littered his skin gave him away as a warrior. A berserker.
He sighed heavily and to a passerby it was easy to see what he was watching with such a deep interest. Running around the pier was a tiny raptor hatchling, the little yellow thing was quick for having such a big head and just as awkwardly proportioned big feet, though it looked like the hatchling had no idea that this was the cause of its frequent tumbles. It would paddle around in the water near its handler for a time before climbing out, shaking and finding a small rock where it would launch its tiny body back into the water.
"I suppose this would be a bad place to fish, at the moment..." chuckled someone, standing behind the troll. "It's awfully cute... tell me, do those things know how to swim when they get older?"
The troll's long ears twitched at the voice of someone close to him. Zamir stretched to straighten his back for a brief moment before relaxing and glancing back at the newcomer. "Dey pretty good at it.." He mumbled out roughly in the other's tongue. The hatchling meanwhile, had stopped in its playing to flop down in front of the other, skreeching loudly for attention.
The human chuckled and reached into the pouch at his belt, removing packet which contained portion of meat that remained from his breakfast. He tossed it into the water near the swimming beast.
"I think all beasts are cute when young, excepting perhaps insects and spiders... a shame he'll grow up into something less amiable. Does he belong to you?" the fellow asked.
The hatchling scrambled after the meat, diving back into the water to grab the morsel with its mouth and dragging it back to the pier. The troll let forth a loud yawn, smacking his jaws together before answering. "She, mon.. and ya, dat she be." It was obvious he could understand most of what the human was saying, but his own Common was poor and choppy at best. "Watchu wantin' from dis troll?"
"Today? Nothing at all... I am taking some time away from that frigid hell up Northrend way to relax and get some fishing in... But my skill is such that I might not be able to avoid tempting your beastie with my bait, so I will forebear until she has finished her play," said the fellow, a smile on his face. "Tomorow? A swift death in honorable combat, should the tide of battle turn against me; and with or without your pledge, I promise to give you that in return, should we find ourselves standing againt each other, in Wintergrasp or other contentious places."
The human unslung the lute from his back. "Would it disturb you if I played a little?"
Zamir peered curiously at the human before breaking into a deep, rumbling laugh. "Ya bit funneh in da head, aintcha mon." He couldn't help but grin, he was helpless to hide his amusement as he leaned over to rub the tiny raptor's back in an affectionate manner.
"All be good, but if ya see me.. bettah kill me be'ore I kill cha first." The warrior gestured with his hand for the other to settle down beside him on the pier, "I ain't much for ta music, but ya mon.. go 'head."
The fellow lowered himself, and spent a second, tuning his lute. Then he started an old Alliance military song, often heard around the campfires in Northrend.
Hark now - trumpets call to war
For soldier, driver, cook and whore
Enlist to fight, sign up today
And go over the hills and far away
Over the hills, and o'er the main
The Horde attacks us once again
The Kings command and we'll obey
And go over the hills and far away
It pays three silver once a week
For killing orc and Undead freak
Looting to supplement our pay
Over the hills and far away
We slaughter trolls until we find
Those that raided our own kind
Wreak some vengance on them today!
And go over the hills and far away
Kill the Tauren cow and Tauren bull
Loot their lands, make pockets full
They're evil things, the officers say
So its over the hills and far away
The new recuits are from the jail
Clad in leather, plate and mail
They fight to keep the Horde at bay
Over the hills and far away
When all is done and all is said
Both sides bury their honored dead
They mourn the butcher's price to pay
Over the hills and far away
He let the last notes drift away, and hope that he hadn't offended his audience of one.
It was lucky for the human that the troll had such a poor grasp of the language. He did well in a simple conversation, picking out particular words, but when it came to the speed and fluctuation of singing -- he was at a complete loss. Throughout the song, Zamir had busied himself with the hatchling raptor, rubbing at her large belly filled with meat. "Ya sing like girlie elves." He said with the light tone of teasing in his voice as he casted a sidelong glance towards the human.
The human laughed. "A high complement indeed!" Slowly, the fellow got to his feet. "If youre around tonight at the inn, I'll be happy to stand you to a drink. My name is Greymoor of Gilneas." The fellow raised his hand in a gesture. "May the light dispel the Darkness in your path, friend. " The fellow turned and headed towards the inn.

The warrior smirked and watched as the human stood with his lute. He gave a small nod in acknowledgement of the others name, "Ya call me Zamir." He gave him a brief wave in response, bidding the other farewell. "Loa be wit cha mon.."
A light green skinned orc listens to the lute for a few seconds before coming closer to the pair on the pier. Her dress is mostly light colored leather but she is wearing a bright multi-colored kilt, going to her ankles, where her feet remain bare. Her hair is a thick white, reaching to her knees and most often in a braid. It is intertwined with feathers, jewels, and other odd bits she finds along the way. Inside her right wrist is a tattoo proclaiming to her tribe and others that she is a wise woman. A green raptor, just hatched by the look of it, follows her obediently.
She watches the human turn away, their words not making any sense to her. Saihissa hasn't bothered to learn any other language except orcish and she intends to keep it that way.
"You're never going to catch fish with the wee one swimming around like that. Do you need help training?" She says as she comes into full view of the troll before her, his back turned.
His ears twitched at the sound of the more familiar sounding voice of an orc, he casted a glance back over his shoulder at the woman. "Yo," A grunt as he shifted to get a better look at her, "Nah, mon. I ain't fishin', dat little ting jus havin' fun dat all. I ain't gunna stop her." The little raptor in question skreeched merrily at the orcess as she stood beside her handler and hopped up and down.
"Ya got a lil' one yaself. It bein' good?" Zamir grinned as he doubled over from his spot, bending at the waist and bowing low with his chin nearly against the wood of the pier and wiggled his finger at the little green raptor. It seemed he had hoped to make friends with the little one.
Sai watches the two raptors bounce around each other excitedly and a small smile flits across her mouth. Her raptor stands still to watch the troll's fingers before he summons a loud bark, scooting closer to his owner.
Saihissa laughs loudly at this point and admires the troll's long red hair.
"Aye, I'm trying to train. Little ones seem to find me when they need the most help. I happen across this one not too long ago. Scared little thing mostly. I'm Saihissa by the way. You just get yours?"
She is curious how a troll came to know Common but more importantly why would he want to know. Her head tells her that Thrall would be proud of this one, trying to communicate with the Alliance. Her heart however nearly causes her to sneer at his direction.
He left out a soft laugh at the other raptor's timidness, he knew he was larger than the average troll and anyone could easily be intimidated by that fact. Zamir carefully pushed himself back up into a seated position and rolled his shoulders, looking up at the female with a smile. A few of the brilliant red dreadlocks had come free of the half-heartedly gathered ponytail and dangled over his shoulders. "It seem ta like ya."
His eyes closed briefly for a moment as if he was deep in thought about something, "Ya, mon. Witout their mamas dey get scared. It be a good ting cha found 'im." The troll offered his hand to the woman in a friendly gesture, his handshake would be firm without being rough and his hands calloused from years of wielding various weapons. "Cha can call me Zamir, and nah mon, she been wit me since her mama laid da egg."
The warrior glanced down at the little yellow raptor that was trying its hardest to make friends with its little tail swishing this way and that. "She da runt, had da hardest time comin' into da world.. 'ery weak but she a fight'ah!"
She took his hand on hers, being as bold to run the fingers along his to feel the various scars and callouses. Sai nods and smiles her greeting, taking her hand away quickly as she gave it.
"They are strong, I'm told. I've not had much dealing with the wee ones but this one is behaving nicely for me all ready." As she says this, her raptor starts towards his in a timid fashion, curious to meet a new playmate.
"Go on now. You're safe. I'm right here." She muttered impatiently. Sai watches in amusement as her raptor springs forward and runs around the yellow one, trying to see place to pounce.
"Oh aye? You've had her since an egg? You knew the mama too?" She is beginning to think this troll is getting more and more unusual as she watches the raptors play.
Looking down at the troll, she lowers herself to sit near him on the pier. "You a hunter then?"
Zamir grinned widely as the two hatchlings played and pounced on each other. Every so often he would reach out to place his hand near the edge to prevent the little ball of green and yellow from falling into the water. The urge to watch the young raptors play was strong but Zamir did his best to mind his manners and look at the orcess as they talked. "Nah, I be a berserker. Her mama be watchin' ma back. Let me ride 'er and all dat. What 'bout cha self, Saihissa?"
"A wise woman, that is my calling, supposed to be." Her response comes out fast and ends quickly.
She laughs at herself quietly before settling down to a real answer. "I'm a wise woman but my heart is not letting me be a spiritual leader. I'm not so sure I can call myself wise any longer. Your hands are rough. I mistakened them for bows rather than swords. I don't believe I've seen a warrior attached to his mount."
Her little pet comes hopping over to her, begging for food. Pulling out a chunk of meat big enough for both of the playmates, she tosses it between hers and his, giggling over the two gnawling on the meat.
"Say, you don't happen to eat cats do you?"
Zamir leaned over, ducking his head so he could peer into Saihissa's face as he ran his calloused thumb over his chin. "Cha thinkin' ya no good? 'course wit dat attitude!" He half-heartedly joked but at the same time he had wished to see the wise woman have a bit more confidence in herself. He leaned away before she smacked him for moving into her personal space: he was smart enough to know what 'boundaries' were.
"'course I attached! She strong, good fight'ah!" He exclaimed with excitement, balling up his fist and holding it up in the air, "Proud o' her!"
He laughed deeply but stopped short as he was caught off guard by her question. Did she somehow know about the Scarlet he had eaten only a few days? Was she's trying to hint at that? His mind reeled and twisted for a quick answer before gesturing, "Da big ones, cha?" Zamir moved his hands as if petting a lion or something of that size.
She laughs loudly at this point. "Oh, no. Small ones!" She pulls out her kitty Sam from her bag. It is a little cat with orange and white splotches everywhere. "This is Sam." Sai blushes at the words she's about to say.
"Well, not to say that you are something that ya aren't or are but I've heard tales of Trollies eating kitties. I wasn't sure if Sam was safe or not." She smirks.
Her stance relaxes as he moves away from her, giving her space. Her thoughts are floating across her face: Embarrassment, Joy, Confusion, Honor.
Sai runs her hand down her braid, stuffing loose hairs into the braid before she decides to answer. With her back straightened up, she says "What attitude? I ain't got an attitude. Well, at least in my head. My heart tells me something else and then there is Thrall. These times are very confusing to me."
"How do you know Common?"
After eyeing the cat that she pulls out he bursts into laughter and banged his hand against the wood of the pier. "Dat a good one! Maybeh some do, but I dun't tink we be eatin' dem tiny ones. Not 'nough meat!" He tried to smile at her reassuring, a silent promise that even if he did eat people's cats he wouldn't touch her's.
"And cha know what I mean.. gotta believe in cha self." He grinned and reached out to scratch Sam behind its ear. "Common, ya? Jus a few tings I picked up. Ya know? Their books.. and stuff, when we raid da camps."
She covers her mouth with her hands as the troll bangs his head. "Ouch. Did that hurt?"
Smirking, she pets Sam alternating her pets with his. "Common. That's something I do not wish to learn. But how can I not learn it when Thrall himself speaks it. At least the rumors say he does. You are friendly with the Alliance?"
Sai pulls out some bread and fruit from her bag and makes herself comfortable. Saying a few words to herself, she digs into the fruit, silently offering her food to him. "If not fishing here, what ya doing?"
Pain was something he was use, hitting the wood of the pier was hardly enough to cause him any serious pain. He hummed and thumbed the end of his tusk in thought, "Sometimes, mon. T'rall speak it cause dat what dey teach 'im. It helped 'im, ya?" He shook his head, "And na, but fightin' 'ere? Ain't da brightest ting."
Zamir grumbled as he made himself comfortable once more, shifting his weight from one side to the other relieving the pressure from his feet. He's more than happy to accept some of the food from her and nibbling on it. Such a sight that was! A troll that nibbles on his food. "I jus 'ere ta let the little one play. She like it."
"Aye, the little ones do like the play, especially in the water," she adds the last part as her raptor dives into the water. She hides a smile as she sees its big head fall in and its little body fall after it helpless.
"It does seem that Common helped him and continues to help him. I've seen him have dealing with Jaina and the Stormwind King. It used to be simple back before the Blood Elves. Thrall, taking care of his Horde, along with the Tauren and the Trolls. Now the Blood Elves join and the Forsaken rebel. I'm in conflict and have spent many hours meditating."
"What is it that you do?"
She watches the troll nibbling his food and his actions remind her of another troll she met recently. She hasn't had much dealings with his kin.
Zamir's raptorling had inched over to the edge of the pier and skreeched happily, as if laughing at the other little one's misfortune and like on cue, its own little head dipped forward and sent it flopping off the side of the pier and into the water with a splash.
"It ain't bad ta know, yanno. Least I know wat dey be sayin' when we fightin'. Get my blood pumpin', "He grinned, bringing the piece of food to his mouth only to pause before adding, "I jus fight. Dat all." Zamir shoved the rest of the morsel into his mouth and chewed in silence, watching the woman.
He grumbled out around a mouthful, "Whatcha do?"
Sai shrugs lightly and laughs as she watches the two raptors. She keeps avoiding looking at the troll's face, preferring to look down at her food or at the playing pets.
"The spirits are restless. I was in the Northrend helping prepare against the Lich King. I saw some terrible things and had been asked to do terrible tasks," she pauses to pet Sam before continuing.
"I felt like I was becoming lost. My elements were not coming to me as easily and my heart became troubled after witnessing the events of Wrathgate." Glancing to see if the troll recognizes the events, she continues.
"I studied and lived among the elfies for a while but I couldn't stand it, all the sex and disregard of honor. Now, I'm traveling towards Durotar to reconnect."
Saihissa blushes slightly and shifts. She is embarrassed to admit that she is failing as a wise one.
He reached up to brush at his long ears, stopping to tug at the lobes every so often as he watched the woman with interest completely oblivious to the loud skreeching and splashing of the two raptors playing in the water. Zamir wasn't about to push the subject with her, asking someone to talk about their deeds -- especially one you just met -- might not always be a smart idea. Sometimes people want to keep those things to themselves.
"Ya.." The troll started but it quickly dissolved into a sigh and brushed his fingers of the crumbs of the food, "At least ya tryin', cha? Ya not givin' up, ya not runnin' 'way or cryin' 'bout how bad e'eryting is. Dat pretty brave o' cha,"
"Oh, aye. I'm not one to quit. I'm just re-evaluating my spot in life, it's all." Saihissa smiles widely and glances over to watch the raptors. Her hands quickly puts away the rest of the food, not thinking to offer anymore. She points towards the Inn.
"I'm staying in the Inn for a while. I wish to study the people coming in and out of Booty Bay. Although, not much traffic as in Dalaran or somewhere else. I think lots of people use Booty Bay as more of a vacation than a business hub."
"Vacation, 'uh. Dunno why anybodeh would wanna stay 'ere wit these goblins.." He laughed deeply as he flopped onto his side, his head propped up on his hand. "So, watcha learn 'bout people 'ere so far?"
Zamir's expression had changed into something more of one of affection and gentleness when his raptorling had climbed out of the water, and settled down close to his chest. She plopped down and curled up around her little tail with a big yawn. "Tired, little one..?" He mumbled as he brushed the tip of a finger along the raptor's back.

Clank…Clank…Clank
The heavy plate boots let out resounding thuds as the Human walked along the pier in a slow methodical manner. He had just arrived and from the look of disgust plastered to his scarred and beaten face it seemed he was not enjoying the sights. Slowly he turned his head in the direction of the two beasts conversing on the docks, his dark red hair framing a face that looked off balance due to his missing left ear.
His eyes move from the Troll to the Ocress and his lips curl into an unmistakable snarl.
((Mind if I hop in? Also sorry about all the tags...))
(( Sure, welcome! ))
Saihissa smiles a slow smile as her raptor plops himself next to Sam and her eyes light up with amusement as the troll settles down to get comfortable.
"For one thing, people do vacation here to get away. Bit of gold to be made from both sides." She pauses to point out races from the Alliance and the Horde. "Goblins provide all sorts of entertainment. Things to be forgotten, things to remembered, things lost, and things found."
Her ears pick up the clunk of a heavy boot but dismisses the sound easily while putting up an inner guard. A small totem raises up by her side and she smirks to the troll. "One can never be too careful." The totem bears the mark of her orc clan with an earthen sign interwined in it. The mark slowly circles the totem as it pulses.
She taps her lips. "What have I learned? For one, trolls with raptors come here to watch them swim. I'm thinking you are perhaps taking a vacation from something. A break? A search? A moment? A surrender?"
((Welcome!))
Zamir scratched at his chin as he finally managed to get himself comfortable: curled slightly to protect his raptorling, with one knee bent and his foot firmly on the floor. The little yellow ball of now sleeping scales had only snuggled in further to the troll's warmth. "Dat's true too, if ya can speak a lil' Common t'en ya can get some of the Alliance's moneh. More than ya usually gonna get from da Horde."
He noticed her going on guard before he even picked up on the sound of boots, being too relaxed and too focused on conversing with the woman may be a bad idea. He shouldn't let his guard down -- even in Booty Bay. He was still confident though that no one would openly pick a fight with them, not with horrible little green goblins sneering and breathing down their necks.
The troll spared the human a quick glance, taking him in and getting a quick, if rough, idea of what the human wore. Instinctively he reached for a large battle axe that was not there. Instead, he simply let his hand drop to his side and scratched at his stomach.
"Maybeh, it kinda like livin' in Sen'jin but t'ere gonna be more people 'ere. Maybeh I just wanted ta talk to somebodeh?"

He shifted his weight to his right leg, his heavy armor making a slight grinding sound as plate after plate of gold and silver armor moved over one another. The armor was worn and battered; it showed it had done its job again and again. Strapped to his back the uncommonly large sword matched the coloring of his armor and it too showed its usage. The handle stuck high above his left shoulder and his right had a traveling bag hanging from it.
The snarl melted into a sneering grin as the Orc responded as he predicted, his attention turned to her completely. The troll playing mother to the reptile would be easy enough deal with if needed, he was more worried about the fanged proprietors of this sewage bowl they called a town.
Slowly he reached his right hand and arm across his chest and up to the handle of his sword. His hand takes on a golden glow as it closes around the leather wrapped handle. Turning his head from left to right he looked to see how many Goblins were in the area.
The totem chirps a warning as the human gets closer to the two talking. Saihissa tenses as she watches Zamir look for a weapon that isn't there. Her eyes take in where her beloved pets are, along with the goblin guards pacing up and down the pier. She quickly goes through her spells she has memorized that day to see which would be helpful before she smiles slowly at Zamir, trying to continue the conversation.
"Now that it is interesting. You, yourself, mentioned that Booty Bay is not a premier place. And yet, you choose here to find someone to talk to?" Her eyes have a mischieviously glint to them as she teases him.
She isn't much of a talker normally, especially since her faith in the spirits have been shaken. She finds Zamir intriguing - a troll lounging by the water, seemingly with nothing to do. If he is a berserker, then where is his weapon?
"I'm not here for money. I have no use for gold." Her hands lay in her lap with palms up as she shrugs again. "But, perhaps like you, I am looking for some to talk to. I want to see if this business in Northrend, this evil, is spreading beyond and the elementals are the first to feel it."
Agitated and ill at ease by the human's increasing invasion closer and closer to them, Zamir slowly rose to his: a facade that spoke that perhaps he was an older troll and his muscles tired and weak. "T'ere plenty of interestin' people 'ere, yanno?" He grinned and offered his hand to Sahissa as his other quickly snatched up his tiny raptor.
"We should head' somewhere a lil' more crowded.." Zamir whispered to her, his eyes glancing over at the human. He may be missing the usual giant axes he was so accustomed to, but he was not completely unarmed. If a fight did break out the human might even be caught off guard.
A red tongue flicked out to lick at a tusk as he grunted out in rough common, "Don't try' anytin' human.."
Saihissa pushes Sam back into her bag and uses a signal to the raptor, putting it into a defense mode. She takes Zamir's hand and allows him to help her up. With a quick word, the earthen totem disappears and she turns so her body is closer to Zamir and away from the human approaching. She doesn't understand what he has said but by the look of the human, he doesn't want to have a chat.
"Less crowded is good in some ways. Perhaps less crowded and more guards, eh?"
A shield of orbs appear circling her, flashing lightning as some of her trinkets in her hair begin to glow.
<!--[if gte mso 10]>
<![endif]-->
The human watched the two converse and get to their feet, smirking at the Orc’s show of power. He would grant her a swift end soon enough, but not here and not now. His errands would be tended to first and he would keep an eye out for her. The light would not forgive him if he allowed a monster like that to defile his world any longer.
He spun on his heel and began his methodical walk farther into the town. His plate boots sounding the deep thud as he goes.
She watched the human turn around with a sneer on his face and walk away from the pair. She raises an eyebrow towards Zamir and asks, "Whatever did you say to him? Are you sure you said it right?"
Her raptor bounces up and down on its feet, wanting attention. Sai picks him up and stuffs him in the bag with Sam. They struggle slightly until both of them sit comfortably with their heads popped out the top.
Releasing her hold on the elements, Saihissa's trinkets dull and the lightning orbs disappear. She presses her hand to her heart as if to calm it, make it beat slower.
"Should we go into the Inn?"
The warrior snorted in displeasure, to him that human had the same yearnings and desire he himself had when on the battlefield. A lust for blood and the bitter sweet taste of pure, unhindered violence. His nostrils flared as he snorted again, "Ya, pretteh sure. I ain't gunna say it if dere a chance I ain't knowin' it."
Zamir spared a glance down at Saihissa and her raptor before fixating his eyes once more on the retreating human. All the while his own little raptor had made itself at home inside the troll's tunic, the little head dangling out as it snored. "Ya.. let's get goin'."
It took a moment after that for him to completely tear himself away from the now gone human, he turned slowly and started to make his way toward the inn with a deep scowl on his features.
((Sorry for the delay!))
She nods and quietly follows him towards the Inn. Her hearing remains strained as if to find themselves jumped at any moment by the human. Saihissa shakes her head and pats her heart briefly. She doesn't like violence much anymore.
"Perhaps it was something else that made him go away. I don't understand why he'd want to fight anyway with all these guards and others in the two factions. I dislike the Alliance as much as the next person but I ain't stupid."
The thought remained about his missing weapon stayed with her. She wondered why he didn't have one and why he was at the Bay in the first place. Any mention of himself was easily dodged into something about herself.
"Say, are you staying at the Inn too?"
((Me too! I was checking back to the "hottest" forum topics to see if someone posted but I didn't check in the forum. bad me! ))
Zamir could not contain the smile that he was trying to hold in as he caught the orcess patting her chest out of the corner of his eyes. He searched the tavern for an opened table and, with a surprisingly gentle yet firm hand on her back, he guided her over to the corner. He had seen humans pull chairs out for women before, so the troll decided he'd give it a shot as well -- with his own style. Zamir shot out a foot, hooking it around the leg of the chair and tugged it out from the table, grinning sheepishly.
The warrior took the seat across from her, having a bit of a hard time arranging his long limbs in the tight space: he settled for sitting backwards in the chair, draping himself over the back.
"Ya, jus fer a few days. Ain't nothin' important.. family tings and that. Wat 'bout yaself, girlie?"
Saihissa's eyebrows shoot straight up at the troll's gesture of "pulling out the chair for her." Not saying anything she sits down and glances around the busy tavern. It was odd to her that it was so busy at this time of day. Surely, some of these people ought to be somewhere else.
Her eyes traveled back to Zamir as he answers her question.
"Aye? I'm here for the time being." She shrugs her shoulders briefly as if to excuse her answer. "I cannot go fight the human therefore I'm doing research."

((Changed it to BB in hopes of generating a bit more interest :x))
