RP Events - Ideas and Coordination
This topics sortof been brought up before, and a little bit in this thread.
Basically this is to brainstorm new ideas, find support for events by way of volunteers and drum up new RP. Maybe even revive old RP events that have fallen by the wayside.
Idea: Short description/name
Location: Ideas for where you would host the event
Frequency: One time deal? Once a month? Week? Everyday?
Synopsis: A more detailed description of the event
Volunteers needed: Don't host RP events alone! Hosting events on your own can be done, but having hosted at least a handful of different RP events both big-ish and small, don't.
Constructive critisism is fine, but the point is to encourage RP, not drown it out with boohissary. ;[
Idea: Alliance/Horde PVP Pirate Shipboard battle
Location: IC - wherever the merchant ship happens to be going on the High Seas. OOC - Feathermoon Stronghold Ferry
Frequency: As desired by nautical types and pirates
Synopsis: The defenders - Merchant crew if the pirates are the aggressor, Pirate if they're being pursued by a naval force - get on at Feathermoon, and when the ship docks at the landside dock, the Aggressor force attacks. Battle lasts until one side is dead. Ressurection spells are allowable, graveyard rezzes are not.
Volunteers needed: Pre-battle co-ordinators, IE team Captains, to make sure both sides follow the rules of engagement in terms of numbers and rezzes; as its shipboard, its kind of self-policing, however.
Idea: Sermons on the teachings of the Cult of the Forgotten Shadow
Implementation Thus Far: [This Event] - link leads to WrA.net calendar
Location: Forsaken territories and towns (such as Deathknell, Brill, Tirisfal Glades, Vengence Landing, and so on)
Frequency: Once a month
Synopsis: Pretty self explanatory - A priest or devotee of the Forgotten Shadow speaks before an audience, lecturing them on the tenets and cultural significance of the Cult.
Volunteers needed: More speakers, "attendants" to serve and organize the crowds, town cryers to announce the start of the event, etc.
Additional notes: To be honest, I need as much help with this as I can get. I think the Cult of the Forgotten Shadow is an integral part of Forssaken identity (whether or not said characters accept or reject the philosophies of the Cult, they must deal with it, so to speak), and I'd really like to see more presence of it in-game.
How well the planned event goes over will affect how frequently the sermons take place. I'd like to shoot for once a month with rotating speakers, but if the events tanks, I might fall back to once every couple months.
Right now, I have [this group] set up so that all players - whether they have a Forsaken or not - can come talk about the COFS and keep tabs on in-game events related to it. We could really use more members!
Idea: Hold the Bridge
Implementation Thus Far: Not on this server
Location: Wetlands/Arathi
Frequency: Whenever
Synopsis: PVP battle at the Thandol Span
Volunteers needed: One from Horde, one from Alliance
Additional notes: One death PVP skirmish; single deaths alter the stragegy and tactics of PVP encounters significantly, slowing down the action, requiring actual thought, strategy, and tactics, as well as elimiting OOC issues of contention such as blue-walling and grave/corpse camping.
Idea: Gathering of the Faithful
Location: Front steps of the Cathedral
Frequency: One time deal/maybe once every few months
Synopsis: A gathering of priests and Paladins of the Light in and around Cathedral square, somewhat of a festival with merchants and such, as well as sermons inside the Cathedral, a raffle or something of the sort for the Orphanage. Other good spirited contests, perhaps feats of strength or skill from the paladins, and something of the same type from the priests.
Volunteers needed: Paladins, Priests and other devouts willing to conduct sermons and small events.
Idea: Pilgrimage to Uther's Tomb
Implementation Thus Far: Not on this server
Location: Stormwind to West Plaguelands
Frequency: Whenever
Synopsis: Excuse to escort sub-level 60's to FPs
Volunteers needed: Walker leader, guards
Additional notes: Start at the Cathedral steps, and head to Lakeshire --> Marshal's Refuge --> Thorium Point --> Thelsamar (via tunnel) -->Wetlands -->Refuge Point --> Southshore --> Chillwind Point --> Uther's Tomb. Actual walking pace is optional. Can be broken into two parts at Wetlands.
Idea: Airship boarding action
Implementation Thus Far: None, save sporadic world pvp boredness.
Location: Icecrown
Frequency: Whenever
Synopsis: Raiding parties defend their own faction airship, and attack opposing airship with intent to down the captain.
Volunteers needed: One from Horde, one from Alliance
Additional notes: Lasts twenty minutes, first faction to down the opposing captain first wins. Each faction starts in their respective airship untill the clock hits a pre-decided time, then...free for all.
Idea: Nobles' Ball
Location: the little park by the library in Stormwind Keep
Frequency: monthly? quarterly?
Synopsis: A place for the upper class to gossip and be seen. It would be hosted by a different person each quarter/month trying to "outdo" the previous host.
Volunteers needed: servers, entertainment, door greeter/announcer
Sidenotes:
Connie - I have an Alliance toon that may be able to help with your Noble's Ball idea - I'll message you about that.
Greymoor, Ulricson - I have a couple of roleplay friends that are itching for more world pvp and skirmishes. I'll pass on the word.

Idea: Fish Fry at Feathermoon Stronghold
Location: Feathermoon Stronghold, Feralas
Frequency: One time deal - could move around to other locations like Booty Bay for a cross faction event later on
Synopsis: Level up your fishing skill and RP - AT THE SAME TIME (omg). Artisan fishing trainer is right on the shore, drink some Captain Rumsey's Fishing Lager, watch the boat come in, and MAYBE even level your cooking at the same time. :o Could make up home made fish themed recipes and roll for the winner.
Volunteers needed: Someone to help hand out fishing lager and bait (maybe even some fishing poles). Judges for the fish fry contest. Also, to help spread the word about it in advance.
Idea: Bloodthistle Hookah Lounge
Location: Either the southern most building in the Royal Exchange in Silvermoon City (where the jewelcrafting trainers are) OR the upstairs of Fairbreeze Village's Inn.
Frequency: I'd say weekly to start, maybe twice a week if there was a good turn out
Synopsis: A sort of break away from standard taverns I suppose. Bloodthistle would be more of the focus than straight up ale, but Silvermoon Port and Eversong Wine could be sold along side them.
Volunteers needed: Attendants and thistle farmers. Attendants would sell bloodthistle, food and wine, possibly even mana crystals.
Idea: Farstrider's Retreat
Location: Farstrider's Retreat, Eversong Woods
Frequency: Since I don't have a blood elf hunter until I do the faction change, I couldn't say but once a month or so
Synopsis: Meet fellow Farstriders, more experienced rangers take on students
Volunteers needed: Someone to do this :P Was running around Eversong, thought this would be a neat idea for someone to run along with
