The Tether -- The Open Wound Never Heals [MASSIVE STORYLINE RP]

Over the past six months, <The Silvermoon Academy> has been playing under an overarcing storyline -- we named it "The Tether," and it finally completed yesterday.

The story was hinted at through the Academy Review, and if you RPed with any of the guildies in Silvermoon, you probably heard about it. A serial killer was loose on campus, slaughtering students in a methodical, very horrifying manner. Eventually the stress mounted on the school when the Academy Guard -- the school's police force -- was unable to find suspects and get enough information on the murderer. Fear and panic began to run rampant. The school was no longer a safe place, so soon after it was rebuilt.

This was the first time we implemented "The Playlist Shuffle" method for RP. Since the murders would involve random witnesses or encounters, we made a request of all players who wanted to get involved. We asked them to submit a song that was indicative of their character: a theme, a melody, an 'anthem' of their character. I put these songs in a playlist, hit "Shuffle", and selected characters to be featured in specific plot events for the storyline.

The Playlist Shuffle, the build-up, and the finale were incredible successes. We had an eight page, 146-post finale to the storyline in which nearly every member of the guild got involved. Considering we have over 60 independent players in the guild, that is a lot of RP.

I cannot stress how much of a success this was. Just about everyone who participated was excited -- players networked, communicated, and corresponded to post actions where the characters joined up, fought against each other, or struggled to protect those around them.

Six months of this plotline has culminated in this amazing finale, and we have so many more opportunities! Please enjoy it (though it is quite long!), and please show my guildmates a round of applause for their hard work and limitless skills.
