Physical Appearance

Varea Brightfellow is, at first glance, a pretty young woman. She stands tall, perhaps overly so, nearly reaching six feet. Her auburn hair is well-combed and her figure is far from slight, but it is filled out in the right places to draw the eye. Her eyes are green, clear, and focused.

This might lead to the second impression: this woman is very self-assured. She walks like she is accustomed to command, which looks somewhat presumptuous given her youth. And, of course, she has that certainty in her posture and her gait that suggest a military upbringing.

Her face and eyes, though, are ultimately what lead to most native to Stormwind to reach their conclusions: Varea looks like General Aurogale Brightfellow, one of Stormwind's less famed Generals.

History

Varea is only eighteen years of age. As a result, her life has been largely unremarkable; she is the daughter of Aurogale Brightfellow, a soldier in the Stormwind Army and a minor landed noble who controls a small slice of coastal lands a little north of Elwynn. Virtually no one lives there, and truth be told, Varea has never been there. She has grown up, entirely, in Stormwind City.

She was trained from a young age in the skills of a warrior by her father, who had hoped his daughter would follow in his footsteps, being his only child; her mother died giving birth to her. She has never seen a war in person, though her father fought in the Third War (which he left home for) and thus has many misconceptions about the whole thing. Her father decided to send Varea to work with his old friend, Gryan Stoutmantle, when her self-certainty about her abilities caused him to decide she needed to see how things really are in the world.

Thus, the young cadet was dispatched to help the People's Militia in Westfall. She assisted Gryan Stoutmantle there; she ultimately helped destroy a Defias shipment, for which she received a commendation and a promotion to the rank of Sergeant, and given greater responsibilities. However, these responsibilities proved difficult for her, and she increasingly fell under the jurisdiction of her father.

She eventually discovered that her father was committing treason against the realm; he cooperated with the Scarlet Crusade to try to manipulate them into attacks ahead of Alliance advances. She arrested him with her allies, the Keepers, and took him to the Stockades. Varea retired to being a mercenary; she fought in Outland and Northrend. She has since enlisted directly into the Valiance Expedition, where she was given the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

Personality

Two words could be used to describe Varea Brightfellow: "entitlement complex." She is the daughter of one of the less-famed Generals of Stormwind's army, Aurogale Brightfellow. While her father's service record is distinguished, it is not remarkable, and notable mostly for tenacity and loyalty, rather than being brave. However, she saw him interact with great heroes as she grew up in Stormwind -- men of importance, like Bolvar Fordragon -- and it made her have an inflated opinion of her father.

This opinion transferred to herself. As a result, while she is aware that she is merely a cadet in the Stormwind Army, she thinks that she is capable beyond her years and very smart. Thankfully, she is at least nice, cheerful, and tries to be helpful. She has an inflated view of herself -- and some success in the field has helped her bring some of her outright foolishness in check and give her some much needed perspective.
